Art Name

My name is Kate, I study Fine Art in Cape Town. I love art, France, culture and people. But this blog is mostly about the art and France... perhaps a bit of culture... and it does involve some people i guess.. Enjoy.

The Bo-Kaap. A Cape Town colourful treasure in the heart of the most dreariest of buildings; this community of Cape Townians have managed to create the most beautiful landscape by painting their houses colours of pure vibrant solidity.

Our task these next two weeks is to reflect this geometric abstraction on the walls and concrete of Vista High School - a school found just a few streets from the original inspiration.

I teamed up with two great friends of mine and together we are tackling the staircase.

Basing our idea around the colour of the sheltering above the stairwell (a Colbert blue), We are usingtrompe l’oielto create the illusion of a gradation waterfall cascading down each step.

Day 1 went very well, we have completed about one fifth of our project - cannot wait to see what it’ll look like on Friday!

Love this!

This was an installation piece we did in April (I think..?). Our task was to create the awareness of HIV and AIDS. We chose to create a vending machine full of condoms and overflowing with Choice (the condom brand) - this showed that it was our personal choice to use condoms and prevent the spread of HIV.
